14 QUESTIONS WITH PAUL STANLEY
From : ASKMEN.comOn : 2008-11-29
By Shawn Loeffler
Q1:First off, congratulations on the future new addition to your family. Do you have any fatherly advice you’d like to offer to our readers who are first-time dads?
Yeah, I’m expecting a daughter in January. If you’re not prepared to surrender the center of the universe, don’t do it.
Q2:Can fans look forward to new KISS material in the near future?
Actually, it looks like we’ll be going in the studio shortly to do the first new KISS album in 10 years. It’s going to be very much a vintage, classic, ‘70s KISS album without much regard to what’s happened since then; it’s back to the roots.

Paul Stanley
By Melanie (Sass) Falina
Paul Stanley might very well live his life by his penned mantra "Live To Win" but he's also a man who was born to entertain. With the sleekness of a cat, the grace of a dancer, and the sass of a mega rock star -- Paul Stanley just inherently knows how to put on a stellar performance be it solo or with the group he co-founded more than three decades ago, KISS.
Live To Win, the sophomore solo release by Paul Stanley, followed his first release by more than 25 years -- but fans not only couldn't be more delighted but also didn't seem at all put out by such a heady wait. The tour that followed suit attracted not only hard-core KISS fans, but newer, younger fans as well. And it was at the House of Blues in Chicago where the cameras were turned on and this DVD is the result. It was November 6, 2006, and for those of us who were there that night, the recording is a great way to relive a fantastic show, to maybe see some of the things we'd missed while concentrating elsewhere -- maybe too engrossed in signing along and dancing to catch every sway of Stanley's hips. But for those who weren't there that night, One Live KISS will make you feel like you were.
I have seen Kiss in concert eleven and a half times. (The half time is a long story involving a bulldog, high heel stilettos and buckets of blood. What can I say? 1987 was a crazy year.) I never saw Paul's first solo tour back in '89, when there seemed a real possibility that Kiss would break up for good. I think in the end, Paul's first solo tour rekindled a spark in the band which had been extinguished by Gene Simmons' forays into Hollywood and general disinterest from the music world at large. The tour, I believe, made Paul hungry again and hungry musicians create invigorating music. (See, for instance, "Revenge," which Kiss released in 1992.)
The DVD begins with a short history lesson on the origins of Kiss in New York City. It focuses on Stanley's ruthless and single-minded drive to become a rock star. At its essence, it’s a motivational speech about not accepting anything less from your life but the complete realization of your dreams, whatever they may be. Kiss songs, those not about sex anyway, are full of these sentiments. While its hardly groundbreaking stuff, I believe it's an important attitude to have and to foster, no matter what your dreams may be.
WHEN Paul Stanley is painting, the KISS frontman turns to the Delfonics, the O'Jays and other groups from the Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff "Sound of Philadelphia" era as well as other vintage R&B and Motown acts.
A collection of Stanley's acrylic paintings are showing at the Wentworth Gallery at the Court at the King of Prussia Mall. Prices range from $1,500 for limited edition prints to $70,000 for original pieces.
Stanley started painting seriously about eight years ago and told us Friday that it's another outlet "for me to express myself emotionally. . . . I go into my studio and time lapses and everything that's on my mind slips," he says.
As for what the rock legend is listening to now, he says he still loves the classics. "Still Zeppelin, still the Beatles, I like the Raconteurs, I like the Killers," he told us before sharing that he paints to the Sound of Philadelphia groups as well as "the Four Tops, Temps, Martha Wells. To me that music is timeless."
ONE LIVE KISS REVIEW
From : SCREEN DOOROn : 2008-11-19
By Anthony Kuzminski
The overall look of the DVD is spectacular. All too often I tend to find artists taking shortcuts when they put these DVD’s out. They often go on the cheap not hiring a competent director, shooting on cheap video over film and documenting their legacy with half-talents. That is not the case here. Its clear Stanley has come to realize the importance of documenting all phases of one’s career and he didn’t cheap out here. Paul Stanley’s One Live KISS DVD features an artist whose hunger still roars when he hits the stage. From the opening thunder of “Live To Win” to the finale of “Good Bye”, One Live KISS is a document of an underrated musician whose hunger matches those of unproven artists and simultaneously reminding KISS fans why we became hypnotized by their image and music in the first place.

SARAH BRIGHTMAN TALKS ABOUT PAUL
From : ORLANDO SENTINELOn : 2008-11-16
Kiss member Paul Stanley was featured with Brightman on "I Will Be With You (Where the Lost Ones Go)," a track on her latest studio album, Symphony. She sees a similarity between Kiss' theatrical rock and her own grand approach.
"I needed somebody who had a rock voice that could actually sing the notes," she said. "Paul Stanley came to mind obviously because he actually had done a stint in Phantom of the Opera in Canada. To sing that part is very difficult, so I knew he'd have the notes there.
"Kiss does show the dramatic, which is always interesting and fun for people. It's about giving as much as you can to people."
Ms. Brightman is currently touring the US.
PAUL IN ORLANDO SUNDAY
From : OCALA.comOn : 2008-11-15
Paul Stanley of KISS, displays his artwork in Orlando
In 1973, Paul Stanley painted a star on his face and became a rock star. It seems fitting that he's now enjoying a successful career as an artist 35 years after he helped create one of the most well-known rock bands in the world.
As lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Kiss, Stanley is a master at performing in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans night after night.
As a painter he's learning the joy of interacting with a smaller and more subdued audience. He will do just that this weekend with three art show appearances in Florida at Wentworth Galleries in Orlando, Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton.
"Well obviously I've got a shirt on and I'm not screaming and I'm not blowing things up," Stanley joked via phone from his Beverly Hills residence regarding the difference between Paul Stanley the artist and Paul Stanley the rock'n'roll front man. "It's a different atmosphere and a different arena so to speak.

NEW PAUL STANLEY USA CUSTOM PREACHER
From : BOOGIE STREETOn : 2008-11-14
Paul Stanley USA Custom PS5 Preacher Guitars!
About 6 months ago I began working with Paul and Washburn’s Rudy Schlacher, Nick Ellingsworth, Bill Abel and Terry Atkins. The project I came up with was to reach out and find a way to get more organic with the Washburn Paul Stanley Preacher. To get more ‘raw’ while still remaining a fully spec’d and classy version of the Preacher.
I also had a goal of possibly getting a USA Washburn Custom Shop Preacher with a street price of just under $2K! That would include hard-shell case and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Paul!
And I’m here today to announce the PS5. A USA Custom Shop Paul Stanley Preacher guitar - exclusive to Boogie Street Guitars!
The guitar has true ‘organic’ feel in that it is completely - OIL FINISHED! Plus - the guitar will have an ALL MAHGAONY body back AND carved top! Plus the neck will made of MAPLE! Again - all with an OIL FINISH!
The guitar is far from a stripped down model! The body has black binding. The hardware is gold including a TonePros bridge and Grover 18-1 tuners with Keystone buttons.
You wouldn't know it by seeing him dressed up in his full rock regalia on stage, but Paul Stanley has a quiet, introspective side.
Kiss' lead singer, 56, will show off his artistic talents during two special appearances Friday and Saturday. This is no flash in the pan, golden-age career move: Stanley reportedly raked in $2 million in sales last year.
He's a busy man these days. He and the boys were playing Europe for their 35th anniversary tour, and wife Erin Sutton is pregnant with their second child.
This weekend the Starchild will be in South Florida to show off his stuff -- a mix of colorful prints of images like clouds, hearts and, appropriately, stars, as well as portraits of fellow KISS members. Bring your checkbook: Prices run from about $1,000 up to 70K.
• Wentworth Gallery appearances: 6-9 p.m. Friday, The Gardens Mall, 3101 PGA Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens; and 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Town Center Mall, 6000 Glades Rd., Boca Raton. Info: 800-732-6140.
